Monuments from Oxpemul, Campeche, Mexico
I photographed the monuments of Oxpemul, Campeche, in 2008, over a period of five nights, one of my first attempts at nighttime monument photography. The results were adequate, not as good as today’s, but certainly worth publishing. I did not create drawing aids at that time, as I do now, so the amount of detail one can extract from these photos is limited, and I neglected to measure each monument. They are badly eroded and difficult to read, but the site itself is important due to its proximity to Calakmul, and whatever data can be teased out from the glyphs and iconography make their publication worthwhile.
